As a publicly funded scientist, it's part of my job to share my knowledge and expertise with people outside the world of science and academia. When my schedule allows, I take part in outreach activities (public lectures, school visits, departmental open days, etc) and make myself available for interviews and media enquiries.
I also talk science on my blog, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram -- I try to keep the discussion at an accessible level.
Schedule and location allowing, I'm happy to get involved in activities aimed at increasing access to science; feel free to get in touch if you are an organizer or science promoter!
